If you love the taste of traditional cabbage rolls but don’t have the time or patience for all that rolling, this slow cooker Amish cabbage roll casserole is about to become your new favorite comfort food. It’s hearty, flavorful, and perfect for those cold days when you just want a warm, satisfying meal waiting for you at dinnertime. The Amish are known for their simple yet wholesome recipes, and this dish is no exception. It takes all the flavors of classic cabbage rolls—savory beef, tender cabbage, rich tomato sauce, and rice—and turns them into an easy, fuss-free casserole that practically cooks itself. Pair it with buttery mashed potatoes, a crisp green salad, or even some crusty bread to soak up the rich sauce. For an added touch, applesauce or roasted carrots make the perfect sweet contrast to the savory flavors.

Variations & Tips

  • For a lighter option, swap ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
  • If your family loves cheese, sprinkle shredded cheddar or mozzarella over the top during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Add drained kidney beans or black beans for extra protein and fiber.
  • If you like a little heat, stir in a pinch of red pepper flakes with the tomato mixture.
